One of the new operators in the Middle East intends to build an Internet Service Provider platform. The Company is a joint stock company formed in accordance with the Council of Ministers in one of the Middle East countries. The Company was set up in order to operate a fixed-line telecommunications business in this country.
The draft License required a compliance with specific roll-out and coverage obligations, including coverage in all 13 provinces of this country. The scope of the services was to provide encompasses fixed voice communication services, fixed internet and data communications services, value-added services and other supplementary services and features.
They planned sales volumes for WiMAX over the first 3 years after launch to cover between 350,000 and 400,000 customers.
This operator have proposal for building an MPLS VPN enabled network that was planned to be rolled out across the operator’s locations in this country over a period of 12 months. This network is intended to carry all of its IP traffic in a secure and scalable manner. In particular this network will support their plan to increase the rollout of fixed and wireless broadband services to customer’s country wide.
Also, it was planned to use the MPLS infrastructure as a transport mechanism to deliver internet and other services to customers using a variety of access methods including ADSL, WiMAX and Ethernet (ETTx). The internet services include both accesses to the World Wide Web (www) and to their value added services. In addition customers will be able to gain access to their own services hosted by the operator ISP at one of two datacenters. They divided their customers to Residential, Business and Wholesale.
The internet platform must provide access for the operator’s customers using different access methods and must allow the operator to offer to their customer’s access to services using different access methods, managed security and network services, Quality of Service (QoS) for premium access clients and Triple Play service offering including Voice Over the Net (VON)
The Project Deliverables
The internet project requirements are outlined through this RFP document. Below outlines the main deliverable of the project:
- Build up Internet network architecture over IP MPLS network which includes providing the physical and logical design plus the configuration and network & systems integration.
- Build up three POP for Internet gateways (in three main cities in this country).
- Build up two Internet services nodes including (in two main cities in this country).
- Services Nodes Network architecture.
- Services Nodes Applications servers and Systems like email, DNS, Hosting…… etc.
- Internet Services and Applications.
- Firewall and security Systems.
- Caching, Filtering and Lawful interceptions.
- Network Management Systems including integration with the operator OSS/BSS layer.
- Training, Documentations and hand-over.
